Remembering Elaine Kaufman
Monday, November, 30th, 2020 Newsletter
Elaine (Feen) Kaufman, a member of Tufts class of 1946 and a dear friend of the European Center, passed away on October 16, 2020 at the age of 94.
Elaine and her beloved husband Richard were frequent visitors to Talloires and enthusiastic supporters of the European Center and its philosophy of international exchange and understanding.
They lived in London after Richard retired, traveled extensively and were great patrons of music, dance and art. Elaine followed international current events religiously, and even late in life, insisted on reading the New York Times Editorials. She was a proud member of the Tufts International Board of Advisors and loved being able to use her international perspective to help her alma mater.
We are particularly grateful to Elaine for the support that she and Richard provided to the European Center, including the Richard and Elaine Kaufman Scholarship Fund which provided scholarships for students to study in Talloires. Elaine’s commitment to international understanding never wavered. She so enjoyed hearing about how students were impacted by their time at the European Center in Talloires and loved their stories of growth and transformation.
We will miss Elaine dearly and offer our most heartfelt condolences to her family.
