Adapting to a Virtual Format
Monday, March, 1st, 2021 Academic Programs Newsletter
Spring is on the horizon, promising renewal after a long winter. We at the Tufts University European Center are looking even further ahead toward summer and a new and exciting way to engage students on the global stage!
In light of concerns around the ongoing pandemic and the continued limitations on international travel, we have made the decision to adopt a virtual format for our Tufts in Talloires and Tufts Summit programs for 2021. Although a virtual community cannot replace face-to- face interactions, we are very excited about the new ways that we will provide interesting and engaging international content for students.
Our dedicated faculty have developed innovative approaches to their subject matter, and their courses will integrate a wide range of voices through course material, guest speakers, and presentations from global organizations. Students will also have the chance to engage with French culture and daily life through a new course offering! In addition, a schedule of and interculturally themed online activities and events will allow students and faculty to engage and connect outside of class.
Making our programs accessible to all students, no matter their circumstances, and creating a full and diverse community remains a priority for the European Center. Thanks to the kind and generous support of our friends and alumni, we will continue to offer scholarships to students who need financial assistance to take part in this year’s virtual programs.
The global pandemic may have forced us to adapt to new and challenging circumstances, but it has not lessened our commitment to international education, cultural exchange and our legacy of global civic engagement. As we eagerly anticipate our next opportunity to travel, we continue to build bridges across cultures and connect with others around the globe.
Thank you for your continued support of this essential work!
